    Hey all,

I've put together a Jazz/Fusion Group called "Kernel" and we are playing in the Boom Boom Room on Thursday 3rd November. It should be a great gig! All original material.

    More info here:

    Cheers,

Can you post a sample of your music and I might consider going? I love fusion, but I'm not going if it's sh*t.

It's a new group so we havent brought it to the studio yet. But there is a video recording of a bunch of New York musicians and I playing one of the tunes...

    Check it out here:

We are the group led by Andy Milne...

Perhaps Dublin gigs could be given gik ratings in advance to help avoid this clearly unsatisfactory situation where unsuspecting fusion fans might inadvertently end up at sh*t shows. Perhaps we need poo ratings (1 to 5 big jobs from 1 big job = dire to 5 big jobbies = Weather Report equivalent or better).

Thats the problem with the word fusion.. I fookin hate it.. Too many connotations of dire hybridizations... Someone needs to update the word to reflect more modern influences. There was great Fusion when it was fresh...then a lot of crap. Todays fusionists are coming from a totally different place / perspective in a lot of cases but the word fusion still jars with some people...
This gig will be fusion in a good sense (trust me)..... but fusion of what?? Theres the rub. But the fact that it is all original has to count for a lot.
Previews are good but reviews are better....

Yes "Fusion" is a loaded word. Influences are maybe a better way to describe the music...

The group is heavily influenced by:

    Tribal Tech,
    Weather Report,
    Dapp Theory,
    Dave Binney,
    Chris Potter,
    Elvis.

    The gig is tomorrow! 8:30pm.
