I think all the sony vivo laptops are Centrino.

    As for the Acer:
    Battery life:
    4 hours (for models using ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X600)
5.5 hours (for models using integrated Intel® 915GM).
I dont know the stats on the sony, so just google.

    What's a "vivo"? :p

What are the prices of each??

I presume the VAIO FS730 is a US (Non-EU at least) model - I wouldn't do it. For the bit of money that you save, you'll go through hell getting your notebook fixed...
2-3hrs battery life (And even at that,it's an unrealistic promise: ) http://b2b.sony.com/Solutions/product-detail.do?fromWishList=y&prodId=326460000026769#

ive had an acer myself, the 15.4 inch 3000 series, 512 ram, 80gig, dvd rewriter. i picked that up in soundstore for €750 about 3 months ago. i cant recommend them highly enough. never even used a vaio myself but i know when it comes to value for money and even style to a certain degree id pick the acer anyday. durable as feck too!

If you buy a Vaio anywhere in Europe then the warranty covers you no matter where you originally bought it and where you're living now (within Europe). It is seperate to the US system though.

Had a problem with my Vaio recently, they picked it up, sent it to France for repair and had it back in the space of a week, I was very impressed. Better than the "support" I got from Toshiba and HP in the last 2 years.

So I'd recommend Sony from a support point of view. I don't think the Acer would have the same build quality or level of support. :D
