ITV4: The testing thread

The news here: http://www.media247.co.uk/skydigital/newsarchive/2005/10/itv4_set_to_lau.php is that ITV4 is launching on November 1st with live Champions League?

Does anyone know if this will be FTV in Ireland?

if its FTV we wont see it on Irish cards

if its FTA then we will see it (in other channels at least)

Take a look here. At the moment its just Freeview and NTL in which its confirmed on.

But here on this site its mentions Satellite so there a very good chance of it appearing on Sky but the big question is whether it will indeed be FTA.

I doubt it will be FTV. Aren't ITV dropping all satellite encryption later this year?

ITV4 takes over Men & Motors which already broadcasts in the clear-FTA. So I would expect ITV 4 to be FTA from the launch.

I take it you did not look at the link I posted earlier in the thread.

It actually states the Men and Motors would remain running.

It'll be quite likely that ITV4 will be FTA on satellite if it appears - ITV are planning to drop their encryption so it would not make any sense for ITV4 to do so.
Wherever it'll appear in the Republic of Ireland EPG is another question but if it does I'd expect it'll be channel number 120.

I've just seen promos on ITV, and...... it says ITV4, exclusively only on NTL and Freeview....

Is this a major shift????

What's the chances they'll use ITV4 on FV and NTL for football and programmes they have rights issues over? So, no more footie on ITV2, all moved to ITV4?

That sucks tbh. My UK sub is near worthless now.

As much as I loathe ITV Network, I'd still watch the CL on ITV4 if it moves to there from ITV2.

I had read the link to the wikipedia article, yes, but I thought you must have posted something more substantial than a wikipedia article, and I was stupid to have missed it. However I then looked in the cable forum and saw that you *were* talking about the wikipedia article, something which can be edited by anyone with access to a computer and internet. Someone like me in fact, because that's exactly what I've just done.

ITV4 seems to be takiung over a 2nd M&M transponder channel. There where two, now one. A few days ago the name changed from Men&Motors to 100723 or something. Last night no AV of M&M on it.

Source of confusiion?

I merely posted a link which indicated to me the itv4 would not be replacing M+M. How is that off topic considering the topic of the thread is about itv4 appearing on Satellite.

Maybe it will or it wont be replacing M+M, but no one has a definite answer. Sure at this stage we dont even know for sure if it will appear on satellite.

And one of them (can't remember which) drops M&M's audio and video between the hours of 6PM and 6AM, e.g. the times that ITV4 is going to operate.

However, last I checked, blackness didn't count for the 'testing' required to get an EPG slot.

Theres a chance, ever so slight, that ITV are just not going to pay Sky their 73K for an EPG slot and just run FTA, off EPG. Its insanity, but then again I think that ITV PLC has shown they're quite well insane enough already.

Seriously looks like 10072 will be ITV4, Its on 2D wheras I think the MM on 12422 H 27500 2/3 is on a different bird wider beam?

I suspect my box doesn't do EPG data on "switch on" and needs to be on transponder a little while?

The Champions League tie between Real Betis and Chelsea will be live on ITV4 (no longer ITV2) on 1st November. ITV1 will show the Liverpool v Anderlecht match. In case anyone is interested.

Today 15:15, no 10072 or MM channel on 10758V at all. Perhaps it will come back later, or just removed from transponder table and "really" still there.
