    Wanted old Analogue Sat receivers.

Where would I get old analogue sat receivers with remotes?

Any make or model will do.

Thanks I know him and have arranged to collect.

Anyone know of anywhere in the Dublin area also as I am looking for 4 or 5 as I want to compare receive performance

    Thanks for you time

If it is for ATV, the performance is irrelevent, you need an LNA.

The analog or Digital sat boxes are essentially an insensitive tunable I.F. The real "radio front end" is the LNB.

If you want the 950MHz to 1700MHz (old boxes) or 750MHz to 2100MHz direct FM input you must have a low noise amp feed the cable. (LNA).

I have also tried the Global "channel expander" (500MHz shift) on the modern analog rx, which extends range to 2600MHz, allowing reception of a "Video Sender", but very insensitive.

It can hear an MMDS signal with the 500MHz extender, but VERY poor S/N and doesn't work as analog MMDS is AM video, not FM video like Analog Satellite and Video Senders.

For use with "real" Satellite, there is really only difference in Tuning Stability. A modern box is fine, and an old Amstrad SRD is pathetic.

Most analog sat left need at least 80cm dish in Ireland.

ATV is FM video like Video Sender or analog Sat and is in 1240 to 1306 MHz roughly band.

Several beacons and repeaters exist in Ireland.

I have about 10 boxes. Two are Drakes to control C Band LNB & Dish later, with LNB IF feed to digital RX.

As mentioned any make or model will do.

As you guessed it is for 24CM ATV. I need it to RX FM analogue modulation. It may also be used for 10GHz ATV via a modded LNB.

I know a LNA is important as I have two but the main thing is to compare ease of tuning and how it locks to a weak signal.

Also very old ones with tuning on the front panel (without remote) are very useful and usually easier to modify for a "volume" type fast tuning control.

The best one will probably be used on the Cavan Radio Experiementers Television Repeater on it's 1.249GHz input or it's 10 gig input.

One of the receivers keeps forgetting it's saved settings every power cut and we need more receivers for future expansion and spares.

The website hasn't been updated for years.

Anyway are you willing to part with any spare ones?

    Ring me if u are.

You can get a Taiwan module for US$10 that is superior to LNA plus sat receiver.

But the G1MFG circuit is rubbish, it was an evalutation design. I have designed a new baseband circuit for it now running in Spur Hill. I have promised a copy to Helvic head also.

If you going to Mayo rally, Dan, I'd bring a good one for you. The best are the ones Lidl sold. Though they need remote. I have loads and loads of remotes.

The Lidl one remember channel after power cut.

I have designed a cheap LNA using two 6GHz GaAs FETS, need to make PCB and test it. Lost interest a bit after trying the Taiwan modules.

I modded an old 10GHz LNB for TX, by removing HV switch, IF amp and refesing the two preamps and cutting DC feed and swapping them with enamel wire. Must test it :)

I don't know if I will make it to Mayo but if not there will be loads of South Dublin Radio club members there and you can give it to anyone.

I know about G1MFG and I know the board is only an aval design.

Ring me on 087-7731120 before the rally to organise.

Any chance u would post it as I can't really wait a month. I can send u bank draft or credit card details etc.
