DVDrw not workin! help!

    just bought an external dvdrw with lightscribe i set it up and it keeps sayin i dont have windows 98, ME, XP or 2000. i bought my computer in 2000 and its either a ME or XP. anything i can do to upgrade the system or make it work? help! Thanx

    its a hp dvd 640e dvd writer
    sorry i 4got to write that i was in a rush to go to work..........

    and do you get this error as you try in install teh software that came with it? or when?

    Can't find mcuh info on this drive. Is it an internal or external one?

    wba88, we're going to need a lot more information from you before we can help.

    At what stage are you seeing this error? Installing the drive, or the driver? When you plug in the drive?
    What connection type are you using? USB (2)? Firewire?
    Are you able to see the drive in Windows? Are you able to read a disk on it?
    What software are you using to burn the CD? What version is it?

    usb2 i think
    when i try and use the software which came with it
    external
    cant see it in windows or read a disk with it
    problem when i try to install the software

    Looking at this page it seems it will only work with WinXP or Win 2000 with SP3.

    So it prob won't work with Win ME.
