Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain and todays Disturbance (High Winds possible)

At the moment a disturbance to our south is getting organised into a
mesoscale cyclonic formation. This feature will slide up the Irish sea
during the day dumping a very high amount of rain with thunderstorms
mixed. The disturbance also gives the risk of wind gusts above 50mph
along the east and southeastern coastal areas.

So expect a wet, wildish day in the east after this eery, foggy start ;)

Presently the disturbance is way deeper than forecast by the major models so
expect changes to forecasts through the day.

I have to say the skyscape this morning is fantastic.

You'd swear that picasso was down here with his brush stroking the sky.
Real dark black carvings to the west that almost look like mammatus.
And to the East and south large anvils with straight jagged edges.

That means heavy showers imminent and I always expect thunderstorms when I see sharp jagged clouds with mammatus style clouds mixed.

pressure here is 1002.5 and falling

Was like this earlier here, though has brightened up a lot during past 30 minutes.

Cork had 11.5mm rain during the hour to 10z

Theres a shower with rumbles heading up the coast now mothman it just skated by us-giving just a sharp quick burst.
The sferics from it are showing up on here - The thunder sounded long but far away.

The cloud formations in that shower were unreal-full of carvings and very very black.

Thanks for the notice, heading out.

Quite wet here for the last two hours.
Total rainfall so far 7.9mm with the wind very light at 4mph from the SE.

It doesnt look like this blob is moving very far.
No thunder-just wet muck and certainly bugger all wind.

    Barometer 1000.7 and falling slowly

Temp is dropping slowly too in the rain, now a chilly 10.7c.

Gonna try bring in the console and hook back up and restart the wdisplay programme-I might lose signal though :/

Unfortunately I have to go back out in this for the next couple of hours icon13.gif

Yes the Airport recorded 43mm this morning and another 7mm this afternoon and with a max temp of 9.9C, pretty miserable. Also 20mm yesterday, & 25mm previous day .

Almost 100mm in just over 48hrs.
