The Mobeous looks a cool machine and obviously the critics think it performs well ..but will this be the case in 18months time ?...Stars and badges from critics mean sweet f a in terms of reliability of the brand....have you checked out the reliability recoord of Mobeous laptops is ? As has been said on this board before..the problem with "oddball" brand laptops is they don't make enough of them to find the faults (Dell laptops being the exception - always seem to have mobo problems or cpu problems after 18mth mark) ...so my advice...keep searching...

I don't have experience with ibooks, so i couldn't really advise you but i will comment that the Pentium M is an excellent processor. In terms of power and efficency its very hard to match it with anything else, an AMD Turion would be tempting for the 64 bit capabilities but i believe that its way more power hungry. The Pentium M even gives the desktop P4s a run for their money ina few things outside of power consumption / heat;) .

Ok so i have again been thrown into dissaray, my friends say that what i need the laptop for im wasting my money. They say i shoudnt pay anymore than 800/900

So ill throw out the question again, i want a lightweight laptop for essay writing, bit of iternet work, i have a PC home so storage isnt an issue i have plenty. I dont need dvd player etc on it as again i have it at home SO i suppose lightweight is my biggest priority.

Also if anyone knows any good german sites im going there next month...

Just buy a Toshiba (tried and tested worldwide by millions of consumers and
as computers go - solid as a rock).....

www.saturn.de - usually found in German city centres.

www.mediamarkt.de - stores harder to find but also worth looking at.

Yeah, plus Germany's cheaper than Ireland too.
Although both Saturn & Mediamarkt seem to be part of the Intel-only cartel... bah! If you're sure you want minimum functionality, get the cheapest you can find! Then spend the leftovers on a wireless USB mouse/keyboard combo, or a wireless adaptor if it's not built in.

One last thing: if you buy in Germany, can you change the language for all programs? Find that out before realising you're stuck with a German Windows!

Just a word of advice on buying from germany, their keyboards have caracters on it we dont use and "Y" & "X" are the wrong way around from our keyboard layout.
