    These seem to be the voltages of my PSU...

    +3.3 -> 3.3
    +5 -> 5.28(sometimes as high as 5.79 and sometimes as low as 3.23)
    +12.00 -> 12.22(nearly all the time...)
    -12.00 -> -3.50(or -8.79 or -11.35, its all over the place... )
    - 5.00 -> -4.70(usually around closer to -4 though I've seen it stay at -2.46 for ages?)

    Whats going on and are they the cause of my system lock ups and freezes? Any help much appreciated?

    Most likly, get another PSU and check it, if you see the same problems then it would be fair to say that the PSU is not the problem.

    3.23 volts for the +5v rail is ridiculously low... What brand PSU is it? If it's a QTec, then yes, it definitely is the cause of ur system crashes.

    when I ran 6 hard disks on a psu that clearly couldnt take it, I experienced frequent lockups, crashes, restarts and general randomness... so yes, any psu that doesnt supply enough juice will wreak havok
