There is nothing wrong with them as such. They are relatively competitively priced as well.. You could do far better building a machine yourself, both cost and performance wise.

erm... the whole idea of buying a dell is to avoid the hassle of building a pc with far superior specs for the same money... is taking it out of the box and plugging it in a lot of hassle for you? :p
i'm sure they'd be great for games. you'd be better off building your own though.

Speaking to anyone in any customer care job is hassle to be honest.. Dell XPS support are actually quite good..

I have their Inspiron XPS2 Laptop (recently renamed to the XPS M170) and its a great performer. Had a problem with it randomly hanging in games and after a number of tech call outs to replace components, I got a brand new one.. It was hassle but the outcome was pretty positive..

Not using Jes anymore they have stopped taking bank transfers from Irl :(

I use either Komplett - Overclockers to get most of my parts these days.

I just built a PC using parts from Komplett. It came in four shipments and there were absolutely no problems with shipping or anything. Very competitively priced too. I bought an XPS Gen 4 a couple of months ago off Dell and I have to say I was impressed with the build quality. No problems with it yet, so can't comment on customer support, but I would say that you seem to be paying about E500 just for the letters XPS and the cooling system, whereas a good case and a couple of fans wouldn't cost more than E150
