copying a hard drive

    Need to copy one hard drive on a pc on to anothe pc.Whats the easiest method of doing this?

    The entire disk, or just the files? Including Windows?

    pretty much all files,except windows.

    How big are the HDDs in question? How far apart are the computers?

    its about 80 gigs.pcs are five feet apart

    A simple crossover cable and use windows filesharing to share the complete drive you want to copy to the other hard drive

    1) Connect the two with a network cable.
    2) Give each a static IP address by going to Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Local Area Connection -> TCP\IP -> Properties -> Use the following IP address -> 192.168.0.1 (computer 1) & 192.168.0.2 (computer 2)
    3) Share the two hard disks. (Right-click -> Share -> Give a name)
    4) Copy the files across by opening Explorer, typing 192.168.0.x (where x is the last number of the IP address of the computer you want to copy the files from), open the share, grab the files and copy and paste.

    Wouldnt yea need a cross-over network cable like what "ai ing" said
