    Australia
    I think Ireland will win,

We've got great players in Mulligan,O Se,O Shaughnessy,Mcmenamin,Hearty who will be up for the challenge and will be more than able to rough it up with the aussies.

One thing I have been wondering is the climate and the conditions and how they migjht affect Ireland

The international "rules" match today was an absolute disgrace, mainly for Australians as their lads lost the plot completely and started fights and were fouling late all over the place. It was reduced to just fighting at times, and the Irish lads were outsized and the Aussies very were poorly reffed. There are huge problems with the series now and if I was the GAA I would withdraw from it immediately. One lad Johnson, the Aussie co-captain, deserves to have his head kicked in outside a Melbourne night-club tonight or wherever he ends up the scumbag. He had the audacity to go and collect the McAnallen cup afterwards. An absolute disgrace.

Do we want a football match, do we want to see skills, or do we want to see fighting? If a fight, we should send over our kick-boxing and boxing teams and just have a fight. Forget about the AFL players who judging by this performance are not personally interested in playing a sporting game.

The problem with the AFL players is that they are during their normal season very closely monitored for fighting. Off the ball fighting is spotted on video and there are severe reprimands. Players are reported. They can be suspended from playing for 6 weeks, or more. They also lose a part of their
salary if they have been reported. So, it hits them in the pocket. In this series, there are no effective reprimands, not even the fouls were called, not even yellow cards were given, the refs were biased, etc. It was like children being let into a sweet shop, and the Aussies took their easy pickings and did more and more, the more they got away with.

This whole game got out of control early on. The fisticuffs beween the Bomber and the Ripper was supposed to be a thing of the past. No-one will say this series will be remembered for any of the football. Padraig Joyce said afterwards that there would be a "welcome" for the Australians next time. He
didnt heartfully thank them and there were no "hip-hips".

I think all those involved in the GAA should now halt this series for the moment, review it seriously and if I was Sean Kelly and the GAA council, I would immediately withdraw "diplomatic relations". This was not a celebration of football, this was a complete an utter disgrace.

    What absolute hypocrisy!

So it is a 'disgrace' for a player to throw a high tackle and get into a bit of argy bargy but it is acceptable for a player to be assaulted in a nightclub?

    Please explain?

I haven't seen it yet .. but from what I have been told it was disgraceful.

Unfortunatly there is too many differences between the AFL and the GAA. I have watched quite abit of the AFL and in my opinion there is about 40% of the skill required to play as GAA. GAA has about 40% of the 'physicality' required for AFL.

There can be no 'compromise'. Over the last few years I believe about 90-95% of the 'violent' conduct in these test matches haved stemmed from the Aussie side.

It is a shambles of a series and should be stopped. Even the comments of Sheedy (AFL's Coach) a long the lines of 'bring it on' indicated that there was no interest in the skill side of the game .. just bruisers.

I believe that incident/assault by the Australian co-caption that had him sent off deserves severe punishment by the AFL. Wait until you see the replay - he was airborne with arm out, catching out player by the throat/jaw! And the aggressive look in his face was scary.

The rules need to be changed so that a player sent off cannot be simply replaced - they should be 1 player down like in any other sport. Even yellow carded players should result in the team being a player down for the 15 minutes.

On RTE the panelists (or was it the commentators) suggested suspensions for players in their AFL/GAA games.

As much as I've enjoyed the various series, I would be tempted to ask that it end now, after the behaviour of the Australians.

This is largely down to the fact that Ireland have made a tactical decision to go for quick players rather then big hard men. As a result Australia are much bigger, and bound to be more physical.

    ok "brainy", here's the explanation.

Both (ie: high tackles, punching, etc) whether on a pitch or on the street (orwherever) are wrong.

ok, you got it, you understand now?

Say it slowly to yourself, "both wrong" ....

    now, do you understand?

No disrepsect to ross mullaney and cooper.

why did these lads go over to play??

They are to small for this aussie and i say the aussies were laughing when they seen these players pulling on the jerseies.

This form is for the tough guys and not the small light guys
