I've just watched an episode of 'Pimp My Ride' in which a scruffy-looking white 1972 Landcruiser FJ40 was transformed into a cool looking yellow FJ40

(I'm not keen on a lot of the cars in PMR but, IMO, this one was 'tastefully' done).

    It got me thinking .........

Does anyboy here own an FJ40 ?

I've always liked the rugged 'go anywhere' looks of the FJ40 ......though they can be a bit bumpy when driven on the road :D

Was it the English version, where that twat of a 40 year old white man tries to talk like he's an 18 year bro from the hood.Sorry Silvera, i didn't see it, that bloke turned me off that show for life. Nice Jeep though.

No it was the U.S version with Xzibit ......and a sweet-looking 23yr old chick who owned the jeep.
The story was that she moved to California from Colorado to be with her boyfriend .......and he dumped her soon after she arrived.
Her 'consolation prize' was getting the FJ40 from him for $200

When West Coast Customs got it in the workshop, it had no doors, a scruffy interior, a huge rusty bullbar ........and an 'I Love Explosives' sticker on the front bumper  :D

They transformed it into a cool (yellow) FJ40 complete with a soft top, huge chrome rims and a wooden rear floor .......she's a Yoga teacher ! ;)

I spotted/photographed a blue old reg (KZG ---) FJ40 at the vintage show in Fingal a few weeks ago ......so there is at least one still about :)

A very good show to watch out for is Overhaulin on Home and leisure or discovery, one of them anyway. Usually on about midnight. Basically they pretend steal a donors car, usually a muscle of some discription, and Chip Fooz of Elanore/ Gone in 60 seconds fame does the biz on it in a week. All paid for by the show. So far I've seen a Charger and a Ranchero get the works and they seem to keep the cars in as much original as possible, except for the paint job. I believe a Mustang is featured in one show.

The FJ40 was a great machine - shame the same can't be said for the new FJ Cruiser :(

I don't know, I like the new FJ Cruiser, and I usually don't like SUV's. I think it captured the retro look well IMO.

FJ40'S were very popular with Irish farmers back in the day,so plenty dumped in fields,I know of at least 4 i've seen over the ditches on my travels,2 might be still in use.
