BBC2 NI Digital Variation

I tuned in to BBC2 (NI) on Sky Digital tonight to catch episide 4 in the 'I love the 90s' series. Tonight was 1994. Imagine my disappointment when the announcer said at 9pm 'and exclusively for digital viewers, another chance to see The John Daly Show'. I turned to BBC1 (NI) and checked teletext (not digital text) for 'now and next', and it said that 'I Love 1994' was on BBC2, but the digital text had the John Daly show. It was annoying. Didgital viewers outside ROI can choose from all the BBC2 regions, so they could have had the choice, if they wished. We were warned about these regional programme changes by ICDG a while back.

This has not been the first time I've seen a change to the BBC 2 schedules. While on analogue terrestial BBC2 were showing the All Ireland Hurling final (with terrible picture quality, but that's another story!), the digital satellite version was showing the world atheletics, which was also being shown on the other BBC 2 regions.

I suppose I'm lucky enough living close to Brougher Mountain to get good reception with an indoor aerial, but others within Northern Ireland that depend on satellite for their BBC reception and can't get RTE could have been well miffed!

although this was annoying to some, this whole difference in programming between the digital and analogue versions can be nothing but good. it is to me anyway with digital Northern Ireland and analogue Wales. the whole "I Love" series is currently being shown on UK Horizons if you are willing to wait

It seems kind of silly to have two variations of the one channel in the one region. :(
