You'll probably find the internet will give you the best deal, but never underestimate the travel agent.

As for hotels etc, do a search on this form for New York, there has been a multitude of threads.

Yeah,i think i said a while back that htere should be a sticky on it from the frequency of questions...

rotary-searching is disabled during the week so if you want to search for New York on this board do it either today or tomorrow.

    What is your budget?

A 3 day (or night) trip to New York including flights ? Expect to be paying about €600 per person, all depends on the hotel.

Id suggest trying to get a hotel in or around mid town manhattan, as it will be much easier to see all the sights and shops from there.

Try a few travel agents, some of them have good deals.

we got flights for 410 from the travel agents for november. not sure who we are flying with but ill keep you posted.

if your looking for a cheap place to stay i cant recommend the west side ymca enough. its location is fantastic, serviced by a couple of trains and its right on the park. rooms are basic but perfect for the budget traveller.

sorry i just saw your post now! is it too late? ill have all the details for you tomorrow. sorry!

i think its $200 for two people for five nights. the rooms have a bunk bed, tv and a closet thats it. so be warned. but the location makes up for it, plus you get to spend the money you save on something else.

ill pm you in the morning with all the details.

Last February, I got flights (continetal.com) for €254 return from shannon, and the accomodation (best western president off time square, booked through hotelclub.net) was around $70 per night. Very basic hotel, a bit dated, but literally 30 seconds from time sqaure.

Also, as well as expedia.com etc, check this site I only recently discovered www.a1fares.ie — they have gotten me a huge saving for flights next May on the Trailfinders quote!
