Well what age are you? Generally they'll have a conversation with you about it, find out why you want to use it etc. Afaik when you first go on it they do a pregnancy test too just to make sure

As long as you are over 16 you can go get it on your own. You'll be asked a reason why you require it. Sometimes your blood pressure will be checked. You will probably get a 3 month prescription, then you'll have to go back and see how its working out for you.

i dunno what the situation for doctors is reguarding giving the pill to under 16's for contraception reasons, but i started on it at 15 because my periods were unmanagable. my mum came along with me though so maybe thats why it wasn't any hassle.

so maybe if you really can't talk to yr parents about this, and its for contraceptive purposes, it might work out for you to embellish the truth about how yr periods are afftecting you. i dunno, try it honest with one doctor, if that doesnt work out then find another. and so on.

You'll be asked some questions about your family's medical history too. Including, heart disease, blood clots and breast cancer. It's useful to have this information ready as if there's a history of something like blood clots in the family you may have to be sent for blood tests before they can give you a prescription.

They check your blood pressure and sometimes your weight as well. You have a bit of a chat and that's about it really.

i was also given a quick breast check too, and the doctor discussed condoms and gave me a few leaflets on safe sex and other methods of contraception.
tbh i dont think you'll have any problem with going to the gp without your parents knowing (apart from the price maybe!) legally yes your parents have the right to know if you're under 16, but i'd say most doctors are pretty sound about it, as long as you seem like you're going to be mature and sensible and careful about it.

Depending on your age the doctor may suggest you get a smear test. If they advise it, I suggest you get it. Many women are squemish about this test but it does serve a purpose.

If you're not sexually active, surely they wont give you a pregnancy test before prescribing it to you will they?
