    Hello there!
Im wondering if anyone has heard of any decent laptop bargains atm. Im a college student and would be using it for mainly college work in Word etc, also mp3s, dvds, gaming, the odd bit of video and image editing.
Price range would be about 1500-1700E

    Thanks again.

Cripes! With a budget like that, you can get yourself a serious piece of gear. Dell thingies begin at around €700!

Thats a fair bit of cash for a "cheap laptop"!
    Is weight important to you?
What screen size do you want? 12.1",14",15",15.4" Widescreen, 17"?
I pretty much had the same parameters as you, and went for A Fujitsu A1630 (Athlon64 3400+, 1gb ram, 128mb ATI 9700, 80gb hdd, 15.4" widescreen etc)
It seemed the best compromise as it seems to be able to do everything well.
I'd recommend a centrino processor though if gaming isnt your priority. Definately get 1gb ram. I love having the widescreen but I do get slightly jealous when I see people carry their tiny light laptops in their bag!
Have a look at the Dell Inspiron 6000 (N10607), a few poeple in college have bought one and they are ok, just make sure you upgrade the screen - €1500 should easily get you everything you need!
