Just wondering if any good boards folk could help me with a little problem I have with shutting my desktop down. Its just an inconvenience rather than an acutal problem.

Basically, when I shut the computer down the PSU fan keeps spinning (and continues making the light noise it usually makes while the pc is running). Is there a way (in BIOS or whatever) of making the fan shut down with the PC? The way it is now I have to reach into the back of the casing and flick the I<O switch off, and on again when I'm switching the PC back on.

Sorry if it seems a tedious problem, its just kinda inconvenient because of where my case is positioned.

My PSU is a Sharkoon SilentStorm, I can give other spec if needed (sorry, I'm in a rush to get to work).

    Cheers for your time,
    Mark.

    Ehem.
Part of a review of the Sharkoon Silent Storm, as supplied by Madshrimps.be:

    Features:

    # Dual Fan (80 & 92mm)
    # Ultra silent (High/Low Fan Speed setting, automatic control)
    # Active PFC Function
    # Separate 12 V Rails
    # Fan monitoring (3-pin rpm)
    # SATA Connectors
    # Clever Fan (Fans keep running 2 minutes after shutdown)
    # Additional power connector

    There's your "problem".

"To protect your hardware optimally, the fans will continue running for up to two minutes after shut-down of the computer, until the system temperature has cooled down to 40 degrees."

don't know if theres a way to turn it off, but it's not a bad thing, i'd leave it as is

Cheers lads but I tried leaving it there (left it for an hour) and the fan was still running. I had an average power supply beforehand, and assumed it was just a problem with it, but when I got around to upgrading my PSU a few months back the "problem" didn't actually go away.

    Anybody got any ideas?

Buy one of those 4 way extension sockets with a switch.
