I posted about this before but can't search !!
Some one recommended floats mobile agent as a way of recording sms etc off my mobile (sony ericcson)

doesn't work with the cable :(

so wondering has any one a solution to using the cable.

If not, have been told to get a bluetooth dongle

My question is , does it matter which etc? I've seen on komplett and ebay for around 20e, USB dongle. is it as simple as that ?

cheers (love boards, great for us non-technically minded)

nothing is 'as simple as that' with bluetooth, but I've had 3 BT phones all work with FMA. It's great when it works, but hard to set up.

edit: 2 of the 3 phones were used with a generic USB BT adaptor. Most of the chips are built by one company and then just repacked by others as a dongle.

The only real possible conflict or lack of support stems from the phone: FMA (At least when i used it last) was aimed at the T610 - although it does work with T630 and other phones... The dongle manufacturer won't make a difference

I use it myself...T610 & generic bluetooth dongle.
    No probs so far.
Better that cable imho as I can contol say Winamp/Media Player with phone.
Handy when your in bed at nite and want to fire up some tunes.

TE: Have you got the proximity thing to work?:)

I had the T630 working fine. Thinking back, after helios' post, there was a little bit of hassle setting it up on a Win2k machine.. but if i managed to sort it , i'm sure anyone can :D

Yeah, had the proximity working fine but sometimes it would lose signal even right beside the macine. Otherwise it was good for about 10ft before signal was lost.
Now, that could have been just the mobile or the dongle but it worked pretty good.
