Anyone any idea if the fixtures are out for the above? Or even what teams are in what divisions?

Derry, Meath and Monaghan all moved up from Division 2. Not sure who the other team was, and I'm not sure who got relegated from Division 1. Think Westmeath were one team that did.

I'm really wondering which teams are in which divisions. As a Kildare man living in Cork it's difficult to get to some of the league games as most of the away ones are in the North of the country. I'd like if Kildare were in Cork and Kerry's division as then I'd see more games.

I thought it was usually decided at this stage what teams are where.

It is decided. Divison 1 and 2 stay exactly the same as last year except for the four teams promoted from Divison 2 and the four relegated from Divison 1.

I dont know that its been 100% decided, as the GAA do regualarly muck around with the league, but assuming its the leave it as is, the following will be thr groups for 2006:

(for those soccer fans out there without a knowledge of what the divisions mean, I've given a well known soccer comparative to judge the quality of each division)

    Division 1A The Champions League
    Tyrone
    Mayo
    Kerry
    Dublin
    Cork
    Offaly
    +
    Fermanagh
    Monaghan

    Division 1B League 1
    Armagh
    Wexford
    Kildare
    Down
    Galway
    Laois
    +
    Derry
    Meath

    Division 2A Vauxhall Conference
    Donegal
    Westmeath
    +
    Longford
    Leitrim
    Carlow
    Roscommon
    Clare
    London

Division 2B AUL Junior Division H
    Limerick
    Sligo
    +
    Cavan
    Antrim
    Louth
    Wicklow
    Waterford
    Tipperary

    :D:D;)

Wait a minute that can't be right, 2 teams from League 1 got to the final of the Champions League last season and the Ulster and Connaught champions! Something must be wrong!

I fancy Cavan's chances of getting out of the Conference. Only team capable of beating us there is Limerick I'd say.

    And possibly Sligo

Possibly but I'd favour Cavan. Sligo improved this year though and look a good enough side.

Sligo are dark horses. They did beat Kildare which was unexpected. Not to say Kildare football is great,I think it is in decline.

Sligo also beat Clare as well in the qualifiers before losing to Cork which was a tight match for the first 35mins.I would fancy Cavan to beat Sligo but would not be surprised to see them pull out a win either.

I thought Donegal and Offaly were relegated this year?Is it true?

I certainly wouldn't put Offaly in division 1A(champions league).
They were humiliated in the qualifiers by losing to Carlow in Dr Hyde Park and have not won any silverware since 1998.

The league system baffles me as you have top teams like Armagh,Laois and Galway in division 1b(League 1) while you have Fermanagh and Monaghan in division 1A (Champions league)

The B and A parts of the Division don't matter. If you're in Division 1, you're in Division 1. Whether its A or B. For example, Cavan are in Divison 2B this yera but, if they win promotion, they'll move up to Division 1B, not Division 2A.

On the subject of Cavan, hopefully we can get home games against our two main rivals, Sligo and Limerick, this year. Last year we had to play both Meath and Derry away. That said, we got our revenge on Meath in the Championship :)
