Stand-Up Comedy (North Dublin)

Hey there, I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this but its the closest thing that I could think that it belongs to.

Basically, what I'm enquiring about is Stand-Up comedy. Myself and a friend are considering setting up a stand-up club somewhere in North Dublin. A non-profit club, basically we'd like to use the services of say a pub or a hotel function room and showcase Irish comedians, be it complete novices or experienced professionals. This would allow the venue, some possible extra income if we agreed upon certain conditions, i.e. a member of staff to work the bar or coatroom etc. If anyone knows of possible locations, we would be glad to hear.

Anyways, was just wondering whether people have any opinions on the matter as to whether this may be possible.

Is there a market? Problem being, if its in North Dublin how far are people willing to travel. We hope to try it on a once off and continue if it proves a success.

Is there talent out there? Do you know someone, a mate, who has you in tears everytime you see them and would be willing to get on stage with say a 7-10 minutes act.

We already have the MC and now just require the talent. We'd like to have a substantial list to call upon if at all possible.

Anyways, let me know your idea's we'll see what we can organise.

I know a couple of comedians (say, three), depending on the nature of the venues and the audience. I've done comedy gigs myself, playing songs and so on. I wouldn't mind a gig just for fun sometime (in fact, I'd probably be a duo - I've started writing writing songs with a really funny friend of mine), and I think at least one of my mates who've done stand-up would also be up for it.

But we're all pretty busy and I'm about to move down the country.. with enough notice, there might be some stuff to do. PM me if anything happens and I can let you know where we stand.

That's all if you get organised, and you do think there's a market and so on.
