JAVA problem on firefox

    Anybody experienced same problems??

Since installing service pack 2 on XP professional I've had problems with JAVA. It is not possible to install it. The installation file I download from Java is very slow and freezes up the PC, then at the end i get the following error message: internal error 2330.23, C\Program Files\Javazjre1.2.0_04\lib\javaws and then I have to finish the installation and it has not installed the file. This is very annoying as I can't play online games on yahoo and open up limewire until this problem is fixed. It's not possible to install java on IE either. Anybody got any suggestions what to do? Many thanks in advance.

well it looks like you're installing an old version of java JRE. Latest version is 1.5. So maybe try downloading and installing the latest one and see if that helps.

Are you sure? Looks like your using version 1.2 to me not 1.5 as irlroins said.

I use sun java myself http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp and never have an issue.

If you need other support for Firefox or Thunderbird try this place http://www.firemonger.org

I'm kinda sure that if you have Sun Java installed that 'Limewire' doesn't install it's java package. If i remember right it will run of the sun java. It only installs it's java pack if one isn't present on the computer or so I found anyway.

the latest one is not called 1.2

this is where you want to go: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp

    and download this bit:

    Download JRE 5.0 Update 5

and yes, the java/sun website is an awful place to actually have to find anything.

Remember that if you have Adblock installed on Firefox you may have to Tools -> Adblock -> Preferences -> Adblock Options and untick Obj-Tabs to run Java applets.
