Yeah, that and the Coca-Cola ad with the lorry - "Holidays are coming, holidays are coming".
Oh and the Budweiser ad with the music (do do do do do do do do do do do, dada dada dada da) you know the one :)

BTW, it's only Oct 13th FFS.

Kind of on topic but does anyone remember Billy Smarts Christmas Circus on television on Christmas Day? It always seemed to on when we used to sit down for the Christmas dinner, and it was the one time in the year my parents would let us watch the television while having dinner!

Hmm probably the first Christmas song that comes on the radio and the arguments on radio about when is the best time to start playing them :). Its mad over here at the minute, shops are full with Christmas stock and trees most places. Went into a little nic-nac shop last week and was blaring with Christmas music!

Same for me. But it's definitely too early for mentioning Christmas.

A box of Seasons Greetings in a relations house, working in town about 8 years ago and spending my lunch wallowing in the christmassy windows of clearys and the vendors on henry st., the sound of carol singers outside superquinn in swords (the old store), Shakin' Stevens on the radio but not turning it off.
Returning from Sligo where I was training to be a nurse and listening to Chris Rea "Driving home for Christmas" while waiting at Connolly Station for my Dad to pick me up back in 1990,
The Sandeman Port and Black Tower ads on TV.

Just things that either remind me of Christmases past or stand out as moments.
Smell are the best thing though, they trigger the memory even better than visual or aural stimuli, the smell of christmas trees, the scent of the cracker after its pulled, the smell of a fire thats burned down because you are opening your presents from Santy at 5 in the morning and all thats left in the hearth is glowing embers.

They were playing a christmas song on the radio on friday, disgraceful.

I'm with ciderman, the smell of christmas trees. Coming in from the bitter cold with red hands into a roaring fire and the room smelling of christmas trees.

and of course watching willy wonka and the chocolate factory, it is not on as much anymore, usually 9am on TG4, watching it still pissed from the night before. Should be on this year due to the remake.

Well I don't like Christmas anymore after finding out about, you know no santa but after having spent last Christmas in Chicago, I'm gonna appreciate Christmas back home in Dublin. In Chicago, didn't feel christmassy at all, even though there was christmas lights and snow!!

No Selection boxes, no christmas programmes/films on the telly. Surprisingly enough ya wouldn't really have known if it was Christmas or not. I think they make a bigger deal out of Thanksgiving to be honest.

So this year, looking forward to me selection box, Christmas dinner, pudding, watching Mary Poppins, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Raiders of The Lost Ark and the usual one off Christmas shows on the telly.

And now I have that Cliff Richard song in me head Saviours Day. Great!

I regularly have the ma send over boxes of Treble Crunch, Hunkey Doreys, etc. Sometimes they come really smashed up but fine othertimes they are in good condition. Savo(u)r every moment!

There was a corner shop up the road that sold Tayto and flakes and bounties. Was such a treat! And then when one of the flatmates came back with Chipsticks....oOooooh!!

i just love going to the local pub during christmas, everyone just gets on so well, laughing and singing and the likes,

then when its time to head home we all put on our coats, scarves, whatever will keep us warm, and we all walk up the road together, people of all ages, u could have people from 18 to people in their 60's, all chatting and singing as well all head home, as most of us live in a small estate, all the lights on the various houses still flashing and giving the place a warm glow.....

the last things u hear that nite is "goodnight..happy christmas" (from various people(kinda like goodnite john boy etc in the waltons)).....and the sound of doors closing.....its heart warming.....
