    Anyone know?.
Im beginning to worry about some of our members.
And no I'm not trying to be funny.
Do we have people from U.S.A in gang?.
On a side note I went to the states 2 years ago and stayed with a Woman called Joanne LosKamp.
Her husband worked in Trade centre...he is alive.
But her brother Billy...who I played golf with and drank loads of beers with on a July 4th weekend...is probably dead.
He worked on the 102nd floor and theres no word from him.
    Its a small world.
    and getting smaller.
    Nem.

I haven't been directly effected (ie. lost friends or family), but my next door neighbour's nephew went to work on Tuesday and didn't come home since.

This is my first post on the subject, since it happened, because I am simply stuck for words. I am in deep shock and am physically sick, even though I would consider myself quite tough. I still don't feel angry even though some of the pictures I saw on CNN have turned my emotions. In particular watching the people on Tuesday inside the towers waving out the window in despair, and then the building collapsing with them inside. Here I am a 21 year old male, who considers himself strong minded, but I was nearly reduced to tears. It's just sick, and then it just gets worse when we hear about the rescue workers stepping over body parts on the street. They tried to reduce such a free country, full of life, to simply nothing. For a split second they did succeed, and wanted America to "crack" in despair, but that's not going to happen.

You often hear about bombings here and there and other kinds of terrorist attacks, but I don't think that anything we have experienced comes anywhere near the magnitude of destruction of this time round. I was in a maths lecture on Tuesday afternoon and my mobile rang with the tragic news. Ever since then I have been glued to Sky News and CNN, and literally feel sick watching it, but cant turn away either. For the past few days I've had a gut feeling, and know that this has effected me. It is my sole attention outside of college. Take for example I usually frequent the web and the boards for hours each day. But I hardly went online for the past few days, only to read newspapers etc.

Saying that I pay my sincere respects to the people who have lost friends or even relatives in what I can only call an international dissaster of highest level. When you think about the family in Cork who have lost a sister and niece. To think that an Irish man was running from one of the towers for his life, while his sister and niece were facing their death just above his head.

New York and America has a very broad range of inhabitants (races, culture etc). The east coast being most popular with the Irish. But a thought crossed my mind earlier today that, a lot of students doing the J1 scheme have just arrived home from the States and many, New York!. I for one know, someone who was working nearby the towers, but she's back home and well (thank God).

I have read some of the Nostradamus stuff that has been posted and TBH I wish ppl would stop posting that stuff, because it nearly goes back to a thread I started in the Humaties board a week or two ago. I am not the skeptic that I used to be, but you can only take so much in such a short amount of time. Even though I don't want to read it, I have been drawn to it at the same time. I nearly know the quote about the "two brothers torn apart by chaos" off by heart at this stage.

But for now I think that further discussion should be either based upon paying respects, or else mature discussions regarding people's opinions about "what should be done next". But this thread seems to be a good idea, and well called for. Perhaps Hobbes over in Boston (is it?), might be able to throw some light on the subject from over there for us.

    Take care,

    Weston.
