Stay away from the racing today mate. Don't quote me on this, but I think all of today's racing is flat racing. Money saved is money earned.

My main fancies at Newmarket today are:

    2:00

Yankee George has rediscovered his form since being dropped to 6 furlongs. He was 2nd of 16 to the progressive Manston last week and runs off the same handicap mark, he is due to go up 5lb from tomorrow. The ground should be ideal and with Mick Channons 2 year olds in good form he looks to have a great chance. The danger may well be Michael Stoute unexposed Erytheis, however he is yet to encounter ground this soft.

    3:10

My heart says Quito but my head says Azarole, both have excellent chances IMO. Quito has an excellent record at Newmarket and will love the soft ground, he is long overdue a group race victory and today may well be the day. Azarole on the other hand is coming back from an 80 day break but does go well fresh. He is dropping back to 6 furlongs for the first time since he was a 2 year old. He is also a course and distance winner. I slightly prefer Azarole of the two.

    3:45

I'm going to take a big chance on a big outsider. My selection is Royal Orissis each way at around 33/1 (50/1 on betfair). At first look his recent form looks poor but that as all been on fast ground. He has never been out of the first 3 in four races on good to soft ground. One of those runs was when he was beaten only 2 lengths by Galeota at Windsor off level weights. Galeota has since been a close second in a Group 1 race at York. His poor runs on faster ground have ensured his handicap mark has dropped considerably. He also has the aid of the ever astute Phillip Robinson today and at the price I feel he is a cracking each way bet.

i think high curragh might also have a look in in the 2.00

I agree with Yankee George whole heartedly. He's in my fantasy nap comp.

I was hoping to use him in the competition myself but couldn't get on to the web early enough.

Achill bay is one for me today. It's a tough two year old race and is up against a prospect in Edaara but it's hard to argue with the form of achill bay. A derpy entry beaten a neck by another derby entry on his debut...Sir Gerard was 6 lengths behind....franked the form in fine style yesterday...Classic Punch was 10+ lengths behind and franked the form with a good run in the 1.30 at Newmarket today (14s into 8s 3rd place, finished well)

If we moved it to anytime before the first race of the day would that be better for all?

Tiber Lilly would be my each way selection in the 2:00

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,757 ✭✭✭masterK

That would definitely suit me. I can't get on to a lot of the horse racing sites until 1pm so even if we moved the time of entry until 10 minutes before the first race that would be fine for me. I wouldn't have it at the exact start time of the first race because there may be situations where there is debate over whether the selection was in on time or not.

I think Yankee George was just beat. Great finish to that race there.

yeah he was beat high curragh was the early lead but couldnt last... i needed that to complete my double

    Result of 2.00

    1st erytheis 9/2
    2nd yankee george 4/1
    3rd musical guest 16/1

The first 2 home were the ones I thought it was between, pity I got them the wrong way around. I'm suffering from an awful bout of Seconditis at the moment.

The prices were good enough for a Reverse Forecast mate.

with the money im up im gonna spread it over the last few races of the they:

    5.25 newmarket Vamp
    4.55 newmarket notnowcato

    what ya reckon?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,230 ✭✭✭scojones

I lumped on notnowcato this morning with the early prices. Fallon rode an excellent ride there, in behind the pace setters, who were setting a very slow pace, opened up with 2f to go. Well done to Fallon, superb performance again.

Whispering Death runs at Newcastle in the 5.10, Surely this horse is worth a punt after its last performances and with it running over a longer distance today i think it will suit the horse well...anyone feel the same?
