    Hi there

Im stuck a little on a project for 3rd yr IT support course, I have narrowed my topic to SNMP-simple network management protocol but don't know how to define it to a research angle and bring in some kind of implementation.

If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks simon

I'd like to see a network/system monitoring tool that allows you to import specific/additional MIBs, with simple filtering based on resulting output.

The whole application should be simple and easy to use, so that users with no knowledge of snmp or how it works can just add an snmp-enabled device to their network and then the corresponding MIB to the application... and then using the application choose the values they want to monitor, without requiring in-depth knowledge of the MIB strings themselves.

    ooowwwwhhhh, sound lovely.

What about first decypting MIB, SNMP etc first for all us that haven't done 3rd year college.

Monitoring tool, with some lovely graphs written in html/svg something like that would actually be useful and used.

Write it in Java as sysadmin might actually use it then.

    my 2cents
