Paul McGillion [Carson Beckett in SG:A] signing in Forbidden Planet - 2nd Dec

    Just saw a notice on "Forbidden Planet" the other day stating that Paul McGillion, who plays Dr. Carson Beckett in "Stargate: Atlantis" will be signing in Forbidden Planet on Friday the 2nd of December from 5pm-7pm... I've got one SG1 autograph, may as well get this one.

    Michael Shanks. He was there signing just after his "departure" in Season 5.

    Reasonable. I got there about 30 before signing, figuring noone would show. The queue went out the door of the shop,down its front, and down the nearby street (where I joined). Had to wait 40 mins or so before I got in but got in I did He didn't have much time to chat though given the numbers. I'll prolly get a DVD autographed this time rather than fork out for the promo photos that I did last time.

    How much were the promo photos?

    I figure the ink wouldn't last on a dvd or something.

    What was he like?

    That I forget! Let's say about a tenner or so? Could've been more. People were free to bring their own stuff though.

    He seemed pleasant enough but he didn't have much time to talk with the fans. I remember the kid in front of me was all nervous, saying that Daniel was the reason that he hoped to become an archaeologist (aww...). Shanks did take some time to smile and encourage him along but staff (FP or maybe his publicity agent?) were at his side sort of ensuring the queue kept moving.

    So Paul McGillion's appearance is this Friday. Not sure if I'll go along 'coz of work commitments and not being a massive fan of his character (if it was David Hewlitt I'd be there in a flash) but ye might wanna show.

    Excuse my ignorance but where is this place 'Forbidden Planet'?

    Is it in Dublin??

    Yup. Along the Quays. Quite near the Ha'penny Bridge on the southside of Dublin (just before you get to the bridge as you're coming from the O'Connell St. direction). It's reasonably easy to spot - lots of comics, collectibles, etc. in the main window.

    So did anyone else go?

    I went, not the best of turn outs and the promo pics were ridiculously over priced...so I got him to sign a dvd and we got a few pics.

    His accent was a huge let down...turns out he doesn't actually have a fully scottish accent!
    All the same, he was a really, really nice guy
