Lost my Nut!

I have an old Squire Strat that I was fixing up. I had taken all the strings off and was starting to put them back on when the nut started sliding out of the socket!

Has anyone had to put one back in before? Would ordinary glue do the job?

    Thanks,
    0.

Just put a teeny weeny little bit of super glue on it. I mean, a tiny amount. It only has to hold the nut on when the strings are off. The strings will hold it in place normally.

    Cheers Feyla,

I just needed that second opinion. I've put in on now so I'll just wait for it to set.

    Thanks,

Yup, that's correct - a small bit of glue will do and the pressure will do the rest.

Speaking of nuts, lately i've been thinking about brass nuts. Has any of you nutters experienced a brass nut? I think that Malmsteen's sig guitar comes with one - what's the story with them?

Housemate has a Gordon Smith with a brass nut. Damn bright tone from the fecker.

Interesting....bright as in good resonance or overly trebbley?

Have to give one a go one day...

Overly trebly but it could have been his amp settings. Seems to always have too much high end for my ears. Hetfield has a brass nut on his explorers though doesn't he?

    Does he? Didn't know that...

    But i couldn't complain about Malmsteen's tone though. ;)

Super glue did the job. It's restrung and back in business now!
