    HI All,

I'm looking at purchasing a plasma to place up on a wall. Now I don't want any wireless running down along the wall into the sky box. I'm aware that I could dig a channell out down along the wall and conceal it, but does anyone know if there is a wireless solution available?

    Cheers

I think a wireless solution would kind of defeat the purpose of the plasma in that the signal wouldn't be up to wired solution, a fact which would be emphasised by the size of a plasma.

I went through the same thought process myself.

My first solution was routing the walls- got shot down by the missus :-)
The second was plain trunking, however no matter how straight you got it it always looked 'off' under the screen due to some trick of the eye.

In the end I went with white flexy tubing, and a plant  not great but grows on you :D .. helps it's white walls though..

I was radical when putting in my plasma.

I drilled a hole in the wall about 3 inches wide into the next room.
All the equipment Sky plus amp DVD etc are in the room next door.
The plasma is wall mounted and you dont see the hole as its behind the plasma.
The main speakers also have a hole behind them on the floor allowing the speaker cable to go to the next room too.The surround cables are out through those holes too and invisible under a carpet to the back of the room where they are wrapped around the stands for the rear speakers.

No cables and nothing visible on the wall only the plasma-neat :)

Everything is controlled via remote control extenders one of which is camoflaged on a clock on the mantle piece.

It felt a bit strange at first not having the equipment in the same room, but it was soon gotten used to.

Present wireless technology is insufficient to carry a hi-definition digital signal from your skybox to the screen. Current generation wireless networks peak at 54mbps (or 108 mbps in turbo mode) for an 802.11g network. Current proposals under discussion at present are for the standard 802.11n which has a proposed throughput of up to 800mbps about 16 times current capacities.

What you are proposing will be reality in 3-4 years time.....

Go for LCD, not plasma. If you want a big screen, true HD TV, variable size screen and better image then go for DLP UXVGA projector.
