    hi,
im just home from a long night out in college watching a stand up gig. got fairly pissed at it and got the bus home. i woke up at the end of the line and had to start walking home (2hr walk). The I eventually got home and realised I didnt have my phone. Im so pissed off right now.

Anyone with any words of wisdom that can cheer me up?

Ummm you can get a free new sim (not sure if it's just with vodafone). I lost my phone before as I'm sure a lot of people have, there's not much you can do...

    1. Don't fall asleep on the bus.
    2. Make sure you have your phone before leaving the bus.
    3. Don't drink so much that it's a struggle to get home.

Oh right, cheer you up... eehm...
    4. Could have been worse, far worse... at least you didn't get the crap kicked out of you by a gang of skangers and instead of being at home at your PC, you could be unconcious in a ditch with broken ribs, covered in puke and blood.
On the grand scheme of things, it's not the end of the world... and sure the 2 hour walk was good excersize.
Maybe the phone was left on the bus... and if you were the last person to get off it, then I'd say it'll be returned to the lost & found of whatever bus company you were on... give them a ring in the morning.

    PS. There there.

Maybe you left it somewhere in the house... somewhere you went when you got home (toilet/kitchen)... it's pretty hard to drop a phone while you're walking and not notice it... surely? :)

If you have the IMEI number then call up your network and have the handset blacklisted. this will prevent the phone being used by someone else.

get someone in your house to keep ringing it and you go out and retrace your route and you should hear it along the way.

    thanks for the suggestions.

i just got up there and rang it again once out of desperation and some nice fella answered it and said he will drop it into my local garda station on his way home from work!

i really didnt think there were many decent people left but obviously i have been proven wrong!

Well let us know if your phone shows up!!! I have lost 4 phones this year, 2 in taxis, and 2 while out! I never got any of them back. I found 2 phones before and always handed them back to the owners, as i know how it feels :(

thats why backing up your sim card is so important, at least you won't lose the numbers + if you do it on computer software you can keep your messages 2

Great news! Reading this thread made me realise how completely lost I'd be without my phone. Having insurance is one thing, but it's a pain to lose all your numbers and texts. I'm going to buy an address book at lunchtime and start backing up all my contacts!

Lost one years ago in a nite club....rang it back and some spanner answered it....asked him to drop it off somewhere I could pick it up.....finder keepers I get back....was pissed off and asked why...some stupid skanger comment back,.....so I just hung up.....mate was locked(was 4 in morning after club) rang up and called him every name under the sun which did nothing but made us feel better!!

Thats the only one I have lost....friend thou let her phone in back of taxi.....got out and 2 mins later realised she had left it....rang it back and taxi man answered....asked him to come back with phone and we would pay him.,....laughed and said it was his phone now and hung up....had no taxi number or anything......

She did the same a few months back(she has lost about 20 phone and 10 purses in her life) and rang back about 20 mins later......it rang and rang......rang again...this time it answered and was someone in taxi after getting lift,.....said she would give to taxi driver and hung up....rang back a few mins later and phone was turned off...another one gone.....

So not just skangers in nite clubs you are prob getting a lift home with the worst skangers of the lot.....taxi drivers!!!!!!

    Ugh

*memories of several times stumbling through the industrial estates of Blanchardstown in the dark drunk trying to find my way home*

    Buses plus sleep dont mix

Ive lost my present phone twice now, lost as in i thought it was gone for good, but twice I was very lucky, strangers found it and contacted within an hour

Had my phone nicked earlier in the year and I fear the best I could muster was swearing a blue streak and punching the hell out of the nearest wall before buying a new phone. Very therapeutic!
The worst part was the ****er who pilfered it also got my house-keys and starting ringing numbers in my address book, stating he was a Gard and wanted to return the phone to my house. Conniving bastard  . Luckily, he was unsuccessful.
