Depends on experience. I just emailed every IT company, companies with IT departments, etc that I could. Sent out about 70 mails. Two advantages to this:

    1. You usually always get a reply to an email, whether it be good or bad news.

    2. The fact that you are not going through a recruitment firm.

    Good luck with it.

    Nonsense....

Take it from someone who knows.... The best place to apply for jobs is www.irishjobs.ie except you don't apply for the job on the site, you get the recruiters mail address from the posting and e-mail them direct with a professional cover letter and your CV attached with the job title and reference number in the title of the mail.

You will not be contacted unless you have something the recruiter is looking for as in experience or certain qualifications. I applied for a rake of jobs, got no reply, got an mcse, applied for loads more jobs and the recruiters got in contact and interviews arranged. Industry standard nowadays is 2 years exp and an MCP/MCSA/MCSE...

Really... so eventhough it worked for me and many friends in the IT sector. After spending months with agencies, sites, etc.... its nonsense.

Go with everything OP and don't limit it to agencies, web pages as most of the job seeking population will be using those avenues. I'd recommend emailing as I said it worked for me and others. Get the job at the source and before its advertised. If you applied directly to a company and someone else came through a recruitment firm (added cost) with the same experience, etc, I'd put my money on you getting the job.
