First ranking tournament of the season and the Irish are doing well. All Irish won their first round matches.

    Joe Swail 5-3 Ali Carter
    Ken Doherty 5-2 David Roe
    Michael Judge 5-3 Stephen Maguire
    Gerard Greene 5-0 Stephen Lee
    Fergal O'Brien 5-3 Mark Williams

I watched O'Brien's match yesterday and after a slow start played very well. He said in an interview after the match that when he was in the top 16 he felt it was the furthest he could go so decided to change cue and technique. He knew he would get worse before he got better but was suprised how much worse and for how long. He feels he is playing better now than when he was in the top 16.

Was delighted to see Higgins win. What a tosser O sullivan is - he 'd rather be planting a few shrubs than playing snooker. No wonder he was booed on Sunday night. Does he think his comments will attract sponsors to the game or for that matter the paying public ? The guy needs a reality check - no sponsors, no joe public, no wages Ronnie - it's not er rocket science. :D
