Easier for Dublin lads to Score away from Dublin?

Something i've noticed is that whenever me and my mates head down the country for a weekend to Galway, Wexford, Carlow etc. (Location doesnt seem to really matter) , it seems easier to get lucky with a nice lady, and a weekend away would rarely end without some lovin.

Having just put some thought in to it i cant seem to place why it is that this happens. I'm not saying the women are any easier or sluttier (Before you all flame me), more that lads from a different part of the country are more appealing to them, something different than they are used to maybe?

Anyone care to shed some light on what the situation is with this? Ladies particaularly if you have some answers please do tell. And any lads out there
    share similar experiences?

I'm puzzled as to why this should be so WellyJ.However having seen your kind in action in many a pub outside the capital I can say with almost absolute certainty that you studs tend to targetr the mingers or the drunken ladies.I have yet to see you or your buddies go up to the prettiest girl in the pub and charm the pants of them with your witty stories of the fun andgames you get up to in the big smoke
Try chatting up a good looking sober girl Welly and come back to me with your results. If you're very upset don't be afraid to PM Pighead.Helpful is my middle name

Id have to agree with NIghtwish, country lasses are made for a bit o dublin lad, purely down to our city charm, country lads dont have a patch on us

because they reckon they'll never see you again?.

Seriously - if they reckon the chances of never seeing you again are high they'll probably put out. They probably won't put out for a local lad due to the gossip factor.
Or maybe they're the local slappers you're pulling. Who knows.
    My 2 cents.

and funnily enough I've never fallen for their Out Of Town ways when they come down here, bringing with them a sense of fashion, free of wellies (although look at the OP's username) and check shirts.

Liverpool girls go mad for the Irish accent in general. In fact I know of several Scouse girls that actively refuse Dublin accents as they think its scumbaggy!

Well I'm from the south and for the past year have been going to dublin a lot, numerous different reasons, but I always get a better time in the city than around here...

Lol, and the confidence ye have in ye're pulling abilities whether ye have anythin to back it up or not, lol. I've seen so many dubs crash and burn cause they thought cause they were from the mighty capital city that the girls down here should fall at their feet. I think it's just when your at home there's not gonna be a lot to set you apart from the rest but when you go to a diff county the girls there are sick of lads with the same accent, same slang, same old stories etc. and anything different is a welcome change, last few times i've gone on a session away from waterford i've pulled, they just want someone different not just a Dub,lol. (Now i hope all the dubs don't start freakin out "f***in culshee" i'm only havin a laugh!) :D

Liverpool is a top spot, the girls are stunning and are up for a good time, plus its good to get away from the "irish girl mentality" here.

You see, i dont think this is the case, cos when country lads come up to Dublin im not sure the same thing applies. If i'm wrong i'm wrong, just never noticed it as being true.

I've noticed that city boys enjoy a bit of groping unknown female bum, so my female friends tell me. They're down for a bit o' fun and don't give a toss, like...

two places say it all: courttown, ireland and brighton in england. it's nigh on impossible to visit either of these without a score.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,367 ✭✭✭✭Sleepy

    I'd say it's a combination of factors:

    1. As a new face in a small town you're instantly benefitting from novelty value
    2. She'll never have to see you again so she's no fear of seeing you in the local next week.
    3. Your confidence is probably higher than it is at home because you know all of the above factors are playing in your favour.
    4. You're on a lads weekend away so you're probably drunker than normal and the beer goggles are firmly in place so your standards drop significantly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,335 ✭✭✭Cake Fiend

Yep, novelty is a major factor I'd say - the same way Dublin girls go mad for the scots when they're over. Also, an Irish accent is worth its (your) weight in gold abroad

I was in Roscommon at the weekend, I met a cute girl, and she actually spoke to me and wasnt up herself, I was in shock. She was really nice and friendly and she actually had manners, again I was shocked to meet a good looking girl who didnt just stand there flicking her hair and saying nothing.
I didnt once see her try to elbow anyone either.

I am back in Dublin this weekend oh well :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,127 ✭✭✭✭Idbatterim

Well in my opinion, they country women have the small town mentality the dublin women dont. The dubs also have a collosal number of men to choose from, and their standards would be higher. If your trying to tell me that the girls in Dublin clubs arent in a different league to country women your insane! Try 92, Reynords, Lillies or anywhere decent for that matter!

I am shocked only 2 or 3 said this, of course it is the reason.

Same goes for guys, if they are abroad or down the country they would have no problem scoring a minger. If they scored the local minger they would never hear the end of it, every week guys pointing her out in the local. People are out pissed and forget. An in smaller towns the gossip is far worse than in dublin, in small towns everybody seems to know everybody else or a FOAF that does, so if you hook up everybody knows about it very quickly so people are far more careful who they go for.

Irish women get their tits out on a foreign beach but you rarely see them do it over here. I remember guys in australia saying they spotted irish girls they had met a few weeks before on the beach, they were topless with plenty of lads around, then they strolled by, and bang, cover up, cant risk the chance of a guy we could possibly see again back home spotting us.

Remember when the US sailors hit dun laogihaire, the local women were all over them, and it wasnt like the movies with chisel jawed brad pitts for sailors, these were ugly baldy fat bastards and the girls were loving it, guaranteed they would never see them again. A normal american may be living here, but these were certain to be leaving.

Same goes for scots as mentioned, they do not "love the accent" they love the idea of a no-strings fling and no group of local lads calling them a slut because they will never find out. Same with the Uk girls who "love the irish accent".

New faces and beer goggles are also a factor. The local minger may look ok after 10 pints and a black neon light. If you KNOW who she/he is and have seen him/her sober in daylight you would remember and not go near them

"Try 92, Reynords, Lillies or anywhere decent for that matter"

they are Tacky clubs, but good tacky if you know what I mean, you can have a good laugh dancing to dodgy handbag music in these places,
but you cant take anyone who goes to them regularly seriously. You can get locked and have a laugh. But I would seriously be worried by anyone who was a regular in these kips. 92 is about the best because at least you have room to move, in the other two clubs you spend half the night tripping over BT2 fashions victims.

Of course it's easier for lads to score away from Dublin. Dublin girls are so incredibly stuck up their own holes, not particularly great looking and have little personality. Dublin or a country gal? I wouldn't have to think twice about it!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,785 ✭✭✭Farls

Its because your away from home, your new, something different, a bit of craic and all that.

And I notice it the same when one of us "country" boyo's head upto the big smoke...I find it easied up there than about home, but it all depends on lots of things, a very good point is the whole being that little bit drunker and doing stuff that you normally wouldn't do, ie. go and chat up a good looking girl.

Well thats what I find anyway.

This is the dumbest thread ever..
This whole thing is overrated. I don't believe anyone here.
It's just typical guy bragging that he has had one here and had one there.
Girls will never understand why guys think that is impressing.

Bingo, especially 1 and 4, and never forget, all your friends are usually hammered too, so no-one ever remembers it was a minger.

Also, what happens in Ballygobackwards, stays in Ballygobackwards!

I noticed that anywhere I am away from my home town its easier to score. I live in Dublin now and its relatively easy to chat up girls in some nite clubs, but in others the dublin dublin girls are so pretentious they just look at you like you just crawled through the sewers.

At home you recognise more girls and are less likely to chat them up as you probably know somebody or one of their friends knows you etc.

Anywhere else, Galway Cork, etc is like the girls see fresh meat and hey presto! :D

To hell with down the country anyway, go abroad. Irish charm does exist (although people in the UK and the US East coast are immune due to overexposure)

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,741 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Hmm, so where to all the country girls who live in Dublin fit into this nuthouse of an equation?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,117 ✭✭✭Gazza22

Well a friend of mine went down to Trallee for a stag party during the summer and he said the women were all over him and his mates once they heard the Dublin accent...

I'd say it would be something new for some country women so Dublin lads appeal more? But i couldn't say this is the norm, you could just find a girl that is turned on by the Dublin accent...but personally i love girls with the Northern accent :)
