Just got back from town after the Royksopp gig. They were quite good. The sound wasn't always the best but the show was more than decent. I think they're cool.

This is the text I will put up on www.concert-reviews.net soon:

    11.10.2005 Ambassador, Dublin
    ROYKSOPP

Finland’s export article Svein Berge & Torkbjorn Brundtland alias Royksopp are touring their latest album “The Understanding” supported by a guitar player and female (and pregnant) vocalist Karin Droijoers.

Svein and Torkbjorn enter the stage dressed in “Kraftwerk” outfit: red shirt, black tie, from their 1978 breakthrough album: “Man Machine” and indeed some beats and sounds are reminiscent of the German masterminds with whom Royksopp had the honour to share a stage at the Electric Picnic festival in Ireland earlier that year.

The sound proves challenging throughout the evening as some microphones are way too low in volume and some effects and beats did not start on time but apart from small technical problems the band is brilliant.

Royksopp mainly played tracks off their new album and the boys were warmly received. Karin’s vocal contribution is among the highlights of the evening especially the singles “What else is there” and “Sparks” are real stunners.

The knob-twisting, vocoder using, e-drum banging duo is well attuned to each other and they are truly delighted to experience a Dublin crowd.

    Royksopp **

Same feelings myself about the gig..

yeah the bar staff were pretty poor alright. Took me about 15/20 mins to get a pint.

I ordered a pint of heineken and there was a queue at the tap, so the guy beside me shouted to the barmaid that was going to pull my pint for 2 bottles of Erdinger. Of course they cant give the bottles out, and she spent 10 minutes pouring the erdinger into about 3 pint glasses. This meant she missed her spot in the heineken tap for me, and by the time she got there, the heineken had run out
I had to settle for Amstel.... muppets!!!
