This was repeated again recently and it's been a while since I had watched - so I sat through it again... It amazed me how old it all felt now. I have met all but one of the principal characters since I first saw the documentary... [Hellmuth being that one] It all seemed rather depressing... and not how I see those…

This was repeated again recently and it's been a while since I had watched - so I sat through it again... It amazed me how old it all felt now. I have met all but one of the principal characters since I first saw the documentary... [Hellmuth being that one] It all seemed rather depressing... and not how I see those particular players at all. It was also interesting seeing a final table at the Merrion with zilch spectators.

But one thing I did feel - I don't envy the pro -player. It seems like a rock and roll lifestyle without the rock... or the roll or the groupies... In other words all the worst bits. Airports, hotel rooms... If this is Tuesday it must be St Petersburg.

As far as I'm concerned those boys deserve every penny of their sponsorship deals.
