    Hi All,
Anyone out there now where you can buy corks for wine bottles here in Dublin or Ireland

Friend of mine is making some home wine and needs to find corks or he can buy them online from England but just wondering does anyone know anywhere here in this country.

    TIA.

    Ciaran

I've purchased corks in a local chemist in Newbridge, Youngs on the main st. About 5 or 6 euro for a bag of 50 or so. having said that, since about 1 months ago, I stopped using corked bottles in favour of the screw capped ones. Much handier and no noticable depreciation in taste. Worth a try

You're better off buying them off the internet to be honest. The only homebrew shop in dublin only stocks them the odd time.

I prefer winesmugglers.com (aka beersmugglers.com), operates out of clontarf.

There's one in Dunlaoire, Country Kitchen or Country Cellar or something like that. Not really a home brew store though, more a health food store with a small section of homebrewing kit.
In Waterford there's a place on the keys also which is a newsagent cum homebrew store. Bigger range than the place in Dun Laoire.

You're much better getting off the web though. far bigger choice, better prices and the products haven't been sitting around on a shelf for too long.
    www.homebrewcentre.ie
    www.grapengraindublin.com
    www.grogsmugglers.com
and a rake of them in the UK, which is often where I get my stuff.

Yeah we looked up a few place on the net and he can get like 100 corks for £4 + £2 p&p so he is getting them from UK as works out cheaper. I should mention it to him too that screw caps are just as good ;)

As stated it's the country cellar on patrick st dun laoghaire. And yeah it's mostly a healthfood store with one corner (in the small shop) dedicated to brewing. Sometimes they have more stuff in the back (like fermenters) if you ask..

Again except for the really awkward things, you're better off buying off the internet. Sure I even bough 6KG of barley malt grains off the net.. Only cost 20 quid (even if half of that was postage)
