I've been dr/thinking and though that the next board beers is overdue by about a week if the current bi-weekly trend is to continue. Does anyone have a specific plan? I would be highly in favour of a mid-week early afternoon till the early hours kind of beers. Im not the man to plan such things so does anyone have any ideas?

sound like fun orangerooster-any excuse to party really eh?!do you think maybe we should extend the invitation to the actual official ucd student union boards to try and get a few more people to come cos i know last year they tried to organise a meetup.or shall we be exclusive to us boardies only?!

The more the merrier panda! But the ucdsu boards are generally fairly dead,or they were last year. We could make a poster or two and throw them up on the pillars and the walkway type areas/tell friends etc to get some non-boardsies on well....board(I hate puns!).

As for the time it really depends on people and what time they finish. Having it too early has the scope to result in a few boardsies maybe having a few too many and going early so maybe evening is the best idea. The SU bar would seem like the logical starting point but if anyone has other preferences just say (same goes if you want a particular bar/club in town for later on).

P.S Didnt I say I wasnt going to plan this? Oh god im so out of my depth Seb/Happy crackhead help meeeeeeeeeee!

When the need arises I can stay in Dublin (family up here) just not on Fridays due to work Saturday morning. During the week if I organise where I stay I just have a proper late night! Any ideas of where in town would be good? I know Judge Roy Beans/Porterhouse was used the last time, like the place so wouldnt be adverse to it being there again but if anyone has any other ideas just say!

new to posting on boards but like boards beers and like the sound of some evening midweek and Judge Roy Beans or porterhouse, there's a science nite on wed so would probably be in town anyway!

Myself and Boneless were just chatting about this today and he suggested the Porterhouse Central (formerly Judge Roy Beans) as there *may* be the possibility of getting an area for ourselves.

It's pretty nice and a Wednesday or a Thursday could be good. The last one in the Porterhouse in Temple Bar was a great night. :)

Wicked. I'm up for this. Particularly since my spell of going without booze for a month finishes in oooh 5 days.

P.S. I don't think HCH will be organising this since I've hammered home the (probably nebulous) point that the last UCD Boards Beers debacle was his fault! Mwaha.

So what day would go down the best? Wednesday or Thursday seem to be the thing most people have said, I'd be up for either really!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,894 ✭✭✭Chinafoot

Thursdays would be best for me as i work on wednesdays but i can head in late if wednesday suits more people.

Theres a science night on wednesday, i think a lot of boards people will be at that, I certainly will. Also the match will be on in both bars, so maybe thursday is a better option. TBH id prefer friday in the SU bar, however many people i know may find this difficult due to work and goin home. Would it not be possible to get a later bus home maybe? FRIDAY! FRIDAY! FRIDAY!!!!1one!!1

Wait a minute... You're not seriously proposing we hav a beerage this week are you? Why, that's madness, madness I say!

Anyway, the point is that it's too short notice. That's all. Gotta post sh*t like this a week in advance.

    P.S. It's a wednesday or thursday or I ain't going. So humf.

jeebus i certainly wont be beering this week. we should organise a big one with a fair bit of notice like we did last time for the one in the Porterhouse.
That one had the best turnout so far i reckon and sure maybe we could have some Student/Forum Bar beers in between?

    Just a thought. *shrug*

As ever, peachy has hit the proverbial nail on the head.
Definitely gotta do a biggie beers in The Porterhouse (although a tenner says ppl get lost and end up at the wrong one, whichever we end up choosing) and smallish beers on campus leadin up to it.

    Sounds cushty to me anyhow.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,894 ✭✭✭Chinafoot

yea a biggie beers would be good. hopefully nobody will be sitting alone in the student bar this time :p

any suggestions for a date for this night of geeky debauchery?

Bear in mind theres a main Boards Beers on November 12th.

and *sniff* i'll be in Spain from the 29th of October to the 5th of November *sigh* *puppy-dog-eyes*

    :p

    Cheeky suggestion......

.....we could have it the week after the Boards Beers and have say a beers in college say next week and two weeks after that to give all the new people a chance to acquaint themselves with the regular alcoholics that inhabit this board....and then they wont be so nervous and be more inclined to turn up for the biggie :p

And that way i get to go :p

This is why I should never be allowed organise anything and why I said I wouldnt organise this! But I have sparked the flames that will lead to us getting wasted in town at some point in the near future!

ah... the sound of a boards beers in the brewing.... (see how i did that)

i will not involve myself because of aformentioned debacle... but knowing me... i lie a lot.
