The last strategy games I played were Civ3, FM2005 and Settlers 4. All of which really ate into my time in a good way.

I'm looking for something along those lines. Not really interested in military control type games where military tactics are most important, more interested in building a working civilisation/community from the ground up, economic-styleee.

Settlers 4 but better would be perfect.

Civ 4 is out on the 28th of this month.
From the look it will be a bit different form the last ones as there is a completly new graphical interface aswell as new options.

This should occupy alot of time.

Have Civ 3 and the expansions. Loved the older version but just never seemed to have the time to play Civ3.

I cant think of a game you would like, maybe FM2006 on the 21oct i know i will be getting it :)

Rise of Nations, it might look like the military side is most important but you will spend way more time getting your cities up and running. Really great game.

I got rise of nations, can't say it really impressed, it tried to bring the scale of Civ and action of RTS together, didn't really pull it off. City building is the same every single time and combat isn't much fun IMO

I also found RoN to be monotonous dung tbh, it had promise but as theCzar said, every game is the same, leading to a life spand of maybe a dozen games before tedium hits in a big way.

Lafort you could try Rome:TW, yes theres a major military side to things, but the campaign is also largely about getting an army to fight with, so the economy side of things is also, massive, add in Rome:total realism, and you have the best RTS ever, bar none (imo, ofc), am actually thinking of starting my 7th campaign over chrimbo, and considering a campaign gives 40+ hours of gameplay each, I would love to find another RTS to give 240+ hours of gameplay and Im still not bored of it.

Also have you got Settlers3? never played settlers4, but from what I hear it lost a lot of the economic side of things, if you havent played settlers3, do so asap, its a brilliantly fun game, used to LAN it quite often.

RTW is a great game might get the expansion and play it all over again. Have settlers ***** of kings not to sure on the correct name. But i found that game panths as single player, Im sure over Lan it be good.

    Art of War
    Dawn Of War
Are also games that i liked.

Is there a game out there to play across the internet that anyone would recommend?

Hi following up on a streategy game, what could be recommended along the way of financial stratagy, I liked sim city (but it's a million years old now), and also airplane tycoon 2 which was great.

the best RTS games out there are undoubtably starcraft which even 10 years after release is being played competitevly and warcraft 3.

both games offer incredible depth in game play as well vareity in the strategies that are availible.

In my opinion both these games are far superior to any other RTS series out there and I've played most of them :)

The skill factor is very high though if you are planning on playing online.

I can't look further than Railroad Tycoon 2, stunning. One of those games whose premise is so dull you can't imagine how it could keep you up to the small hours, but it does.

I haven't heard of any game in last few years that lives up to that pedigree (including Railroad Tycoon 3 :( )

I have both RR Tycoon 2 and 3. You really wouldn't go wrong if you got 3. It's not vastly more fun than 2 as a game (though the graphics area lot better), but is technically better. The economics model requires a hell of a lot more thought to master, and is a lot more realistic, that's the main difference.

    NTM
