Last week my Irish Dish support disintegrated and so I rang Sky for advise. A very pleasant chap (Malcolm) advised me that I could either book one of there own engineer/technicians or get someone local. Not knowing anyone local and aware of "Cowboys" I plumped for their provider. (Sierra) I believe.
Now, I have booked a half day tomorrow on the understanding that the technician will phone between 8 - 9 am to confirm toa. Sky have advised me to have a cheque (€107.93) to give to the technician on completion.
Believe it or not, now my English dish has gone out of alignment, so no FTA.
I suppose if I bung the technician an extra few euro he will rectify that also.
What do you all think.

Depend if new dish is needed (probabily), distance travelled and time to fit, possibly needs to drill new holes etc.

Paint all the support and back of dish with black hammerite and it will wear better next time.

Certinally if DIY competant you can do this cheaper buying the bits. But this applies to most labour intensive jobs.

If the other dish just needs alaignment and is picking up Sky, fine. If it was for another satellite, he might not have a suitable meter or know where to find it.

Takes me about 1hr to fit a dish from scratch and align it (Last one in my own garden was for Telstar12 @15W). So adding travel time and parts not bad really.

    These Guys need to eat.

Yup, that's great advice for anyone's system. Even more so if in a coastal area, as the mini-dishes don't take kindly to salt air!

    Hi all,

You won't believe this (Or maybe you will) but the technician was scheduled to arrive on Monday this week!! Sky advised me that he would telephone on the day of the installation between the hours of 8 - 9am.
No call!, so I set of for work and at 9.15am the technician rang. and arrangments were made for him to call that evening. 8.15pm, he rang and stated that he would now reschedule for either the following Tuesday evening or first thing on Wednesday Morning. No show Tuesday eve or Wednesday morning. Rang Sky and told them that I was not happy (To put it mildly) and that I was discontinueing the service with immediate effect. Needless to say they were not happy and with a bit of negotiations I received "Free on site service/repair" (originally quoted €108.00) and 3 months half rental.
So top marks Sky for resolving my problem and also guaranteeing on site service for Monday 17 October. (I Hope)
