Correct me if I'm wrong (anyone?), but AFAIK you have to apply for a firearms cert here to bring your firearm of choice with you.

Contact the Department of Justice. They'll advise you and your mates on how to bring them in.

It'll depend on where they are coming from and what they want to bring in.

This scenario was envisioned when the European Firearms Pass was thought up.Am not sure how Irish authorities will approach this but know of some shooters who inquired at 2 different stations and were told 2 different interpretations.....1. needed cert 2.didn't need cert.So they just came and went with no cert.
Recently I have travelled to and from Holland with my Glock 22 and experienced no problems(we were well versed and well prepared.)All we had to do both in Dublin and Schipol was show domestic cert and Euro pass and breezed through both airports both going and coming

ED, the sports shooters will have to apply for a visitors permit, this application must be made to the station with responsibilty for the range they are shooting at, they will need their orginal euro pass plus their own national permit, copies are not accepted ,and a letter outlining the reason for the proposed visit. Ammunition can be preordered by a dealer but he or she will need a copy of the Irish Permit to order the ammo, the situation on Mainland Eorope is very straightforward with only the euro pass and a official match invitation needed.

Its a small ambition of mine to take a handgun home just so that I can say I've shot it at home and maybe go to a competition while I'm there. It seams quite a mine field to wade through for a non european resident
