Student Travel Card

    I recently got a student travelcard, you know the red ones they give all students for 12 euro or 6 with a new BOI account , anyway it promises reductions on LUAS tickets, my question is how do I get these reductions is there some way of buying a monthly ticket for cheaper than the student price (€35 for 1 line) at the machine at each station?

    Afaik, the student tickets that you buy at the stops aren't valid without the student travel card, they need to be shown together if you're ever asked. Without the student card, the ticket is invalid and it's as if you don't have one, you have to pay the fine. It stops people who aren't students availing of the discount. I could be wrong though

    Yep you have to have the student travel card to get student rates on luas.

    €35 euro for a monthly LUAS student ticket? It used to be €40. Good news for me. I;ve only ever been asked to show my student card once, out of a whole years travel so its unlikely it will happen.
