    Oh no!

    Bad news!

I was told this evening by a Ben & Jerry specialist (Well, the girl behind the Ben & Jerry Counter at my local cinema) that they are no longer making Cherry Garcia flavour....

First the Dublin Wax Museum closes down and now this... my life couldn't possibly get any worse...

You've clearly never been to the Dublin Wax Museum or tasted Cherry Garcia.

I'd even settle for tasting Gerry Garcia right now actually....

Tis a promotion done by the people who deliver to Centra (same group who deliver to Super Valu). Cant remember there name but Super Valu had a promotion like this over the summer. Now its Centras turn and id say thats the end of it as I dont think the promotion applies to all shops!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,216 ✭✭✭✭monkeyfudge

    Musgraves. They own Super Valu.

That's just great, the flavour that i really enjoy and they pull it from the shelves. Typical. It's hard enough to get Cherry Garcia in the shops, perhaps they've pulled it sooner than we think. Had some Cookie Dough Chip last night watching The Machinist, it's not the same, but ah well.

what is going on? i went to 4 places i knew were centra's. 2 of them are now londis and one is a spar. the one centra left is so small im surprised they even have a door, so no ice cream.

has centra gone bankrupt or what?just when i wanted those ice creams for a small party. damn.
(city centre centras). i think its the lack of money that those ben and jerries would have generated that pulled them under!

Jaysus... You obviously dont understand these stores... Centra and supervalu is a FRANCHISE So what has happened is someone who owns some centra stores sold out to Londis etc.. thats all. Its not like Tesco.. Anyone can set up a centra or Supervalu with permission from musgraves.

Anyway i noticed it too. The one on Westmorland street? The one in sandyford etc.. maybe all owned by same person as it was the same time.

That's Chubby Hubby, my favourite flavour EVER! Unfortunately it didn't go down well here and they don't sell it anymore. Readily available in the US if you're there but only in the 500ml tubs as far as I know.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,217 ✭✭✭FX Meister

That sounds really crap. Pretzles and peanut butter

I hope this offer is still going....i had a look at this thread last week and then forgot all about it

There's a local centre i might check but the guy is really stiff in there and i doubt he is participating in the offer. Does anyone know any city centre centres that have the B&J offer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 269 ✭✭Loadedscream

Apparently the guy who owned all those city centre Centra franchises was hiking up all his prices above the RRPs and Musgraves weren't happy about that, so he jumped ship and took up with Londis instead.

Those shops always were stupidly expensive... Apu's Quick-E-Mart style pricing.
