I have a fuji finepix A202 2MP camera and has it set to it highest setting 2M-Fine which =1600x1200. The thing is I want to resize the original piture from 16x22in approx to 3x4in but when I do this the smaller print seems less clear. I could understand if I was blowing the picture up, is this normal or am I doing something wrong. I am using Jasc PSP-9, I have attacthed the image properties of both the original pic and resized one

    Cheers

    a) ..you haven't changed the resolution / depth ??
    b) When you're reducing or increasing the size of a JPEG, it's resampling. I'm not familiar with PSP so I cannot go into specific details. However, I would suggest reading up on PSP or simply changing the resampling method ("bicubic", "bilinear",et al.)
    c) embrace the lossy!

Or try the one-click (OK, two-click ) resize function in Picasa..?

"I want to resize the original piture from 16x22in approx to 3x4in"

inches mean NOTHING on a computer screen, only pixels have any meaning. If you want to print the image, leave it at the highest pixel size straight from the camera and let the printer drivers resize it for printing instead of messing about in PSP

and also, have a read of this and if you don't understand it read it again till you understand what size means in regards to digital photography

I never resize an image before printing, I just set the print size to what I want it as I'm printing the picture.

Use IrfanView every time for resizing..

    Excellent piece of software!
