Im wondering about this, im looking at fiat coupes, i can ins the 2litre 20v n/a for about 1.8k which is fair enough but the turbo is 3k :(

However i could ins it for 1100 with this offer on 123.ie but basically id have a 4k excess. Does anyone know the ins and outs of this and has anyone taken it up?

This one has been done already - but havent heard any feedback as of yet.

I was thinking about it myself - get a performance car but that idea went down the drain when fuel prices started to go up.

As an accountant can i recommend that if you can save 4k and put it on a deposit account to cover the excess for that rainly day (touch of wood).

I think it is a good idea if you dont have a car that is not too expensive.

I wouldnt insure a Opel Astra VXR under that policy but id luv get the car tho....

It depends on you and your risk assessment.

well im an accountant myself ;) and basically it appears to make sense, ie if i am saving 2k on premium i could have the excess saved in 2 years

i dunno looks maybe too good to be true?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

LOL@Kali. An accountant should be a little bit clearer to avoid audit issues ;)

Nope. It does exactly what it says on the tin. If you are confident you have a smaller chance than average of a claim and if you can cough up 4 grand if needs be, you should seriously consider it

    it should be the same??

shouldn't be I don't think, the Silvia I'm looking to get is 259BHP 2l turbo rear wheel drive, doesn't really make sense to be the same as fiat coupes 2litre 20v n/a

sorry the 1123 quote is for the turbo and you can get that quote on any car up to 3 litre worth less than 100k

Wow - biggest sig in the world! :)

Same question - is the 4K excess on damage to your car, or damage to a 3rd party?

Hey I'm thinking about selling mine, Mugen R though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,399 ✭✭✭kluivert

I meant you wouldnt take out that policy on a new car costing 20k +

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 953 ✭✭✭StRiKeR

well I wouldn't mind the excess, if I didn't have to pay 15k vrt on my skyline I would have got that here on the road now insure with these guys, the car worth 49k here, doesn't cost that much to buy over in Hong Kong though, ridiculous vrt

The offer is regardless of price engine size ect ect be its supra skyline or a mini its 1123,the catch being the 4k excess and your no claims bonus is locked to them aswell.

OT: Did you get the skyline man? whats the full spec of it if you did? i was seriously thinking about an R34 GTS-T and importing it myself until the fuel went to the price it did! Now i'm thinking 2 wheels good....4 wheels bad :(

OP: I think its a fantastic offer with 123.ie but as the others have said, make sure and have that 4k sitting about for the just in case. Although i'm sure most people could find it/loan it if the wrost ever happened.

Always the way though...insurance becomes available at doable prices and now fuel is gone through the roof!

Also you know that you need to be either 25+ OR have 5 years NCD to qualify for the 123.ie offer. Or has this changed since I last enquired about it.

Never mind the fuel,id be more worried about the vrt on an R34!

Your correct aswell, its 25+ with full licence or if under 25 have a full NCB,BUT they will still quote you under the scheme even if you dont meet the critera altho your quote will be higher than 1123 and will still carry the 4k for male and 2k for female excess

It only GTS-T...not a GTR :( . VRT works out just over the 2k mark on one. Could have a 99 one sitting on street with irish plates for <14k easily.
