spam in mymail

has anyone else noticed that there is a ridiculous amount of spam emails ending up in our inboxes.

every week i check it and there's at least 3 spammy emails (i never use my email for anything other then college related stuff). i get ones from Barclay's bank and an e page activity report every so often. i logged onto the ISS services website and got them to label these emails so i at least know that they're junk before i even open them. also last year my whole class got targeted with a virus in an email that looked really genuine to the casual observer.

There's a spam filter, which has to be activated for us "old-school" people...(i.e. pre-July 2004 registration)

3 a week eh? i remember when i got that man... multiply that figure by about 1000 for the ammount i get a week now

can that filter pick up on [font=&quot]innocuous [/font]looking viruses? the one that was sent to my year was actually from a tcd email holder account or at least it ended with @tcd.ie (and no i don't remember what it was)

virus scanners should pick up the email regardless of what it says.........

Although be warned the spam filter isn't perfect, spam will get through and sometimes legitimate mailing lists go to the spam folder (MCD's mailing list seems to be spam although after reading it for the last three years, yes, I agree it is spam!).

Seriously though snorlax, three! That is incredibly low. Although you did say you only use it for college stuff so that somewhat explains it.
