Right. someone help me before I throw this fuking computer out a window ...

Im trying to download a file and although i get spikes of 30-35k , my average speed is 10-15. The file has over 4000 seeds.

I have a 1mb eircom line, i have set up port forwarding, opened a pinhole on ports 6881-6889 , i have tried different clients, currently using bitcomet.

    Please help !

You must have a problem somewhere :P

Do your clients report that the ports are being forwarded ok? Eg. smiley green face, green light, thumbs up, whatever way your client indicates that it's working.

Are the forwarded ports definetely goign through ?

It's also generally safe to say that torrent speeds wont stabilise for the first hour.

    forward different ports

    Eircom throttles those ports

    hence shít speeds

Well im in the middle of a file at the mo with 4152 in Swarm Seeders and 9180 in Swarm Peers and I get these "speed spurts" where one min its fast and the next min its really slow.

UTV 1MB Broadband. Are you LOST? :P

Isnt your download speed proportional to your upload speed. So on a eircom line with 128kupload suprize 10/15kps download speed. But on a irish bb line more. Now I wonder why people are saying that everybody on irish bb seems to be running at low speeds when there on a contention ratio.

Can anyone explain how to forward ports?

I always get little yellow smileys on Azureus...

I'm using a ZyXel router btw on Eircom 1mb line

log into the router -> NAT -> edit sua details -> enter start/end port numbers & the ip address of your computer

Can I jump in on this thread or should I make my own?

Anyway, my problem is, I can't browse the web after a while if I have Azureus running, is that normal?
Most other programs don't work either, they all can't connect even though I can see Azureus downloading.
About 5 minutes later, I get the Address Not Found Error in Firefox... even when I can see Azureus downloading AND even if there's something downloading but it's only getting 0b/s.

I remember doing something like logging into my router and putting in port things too.

Nibels: I find my PC comes to a stand still when Azurus is running too. Im not to sure if its cause I told it my speeds are "Unlimited" or cause its a resource hog..

I never had a problem running Azereus, except for fairly slow download speeds (around 30-40kB on a 2Mb line), but the web always worked too. Perhaps you've broken something when setting up the NAT. Check out www.portforward.com to see if you have.

Well, im not LOST anymore but it took over 5 hours to find my way

If I open up more ports , which ones ? Should i leave my client listening on 6881 ? And yes, i get the green smiley.

If you have the green smiley then you're boxed off.

Sully: Come on man! It's as blatant as a big yellow spot on a supermodels face!

Jozi: Discussing bittorrent stuff isn't disallowed. I actually thought with that many seeds that it was probably a linux distro or something. Discussing how to download episodes of lost is though. Thread closed.
