Yeah, so I thought I'd start a thread on this for the craic... If anybody read the paper (in college) this week, you'll see a big moan about how one of the SU guys, Dave Curran, google searched for a picture of an Asian bloke and put it on a poster for Class Rep, cos he could only find girls that would be in the poster.

So, what do you think about this? Big moan, blown out of proportion? Or bigoted, racist, stereotypical act of inhumanity?

    The choice... is yours.

To be honest, I did'nt even think it was a joke till I read the thing. I just though it was an asian guy who wanted to be a rep so I wasn't shocked or offended by the whole deal.

fair dues to Curran, if the class reps are all ugly whoores then why not... i'd have thought someone handsome, like Chris Bond, would have done a poster....

the reason why people like chris couldn;t do the poster is that he wasing running for class rep this year and dave didn;t want to give anyone an unfair advantage by putting them on the poster leading people to believe it was a campaign poster.

Its only a bit of a laugh. Get over it. The student paper is a rag written by the ars€ bandits of the man.

Which makes it different from any other media source how exactly?

He lied. Lies are bad, especially when they're so fúcking stupid as to be about friggin' class reps. People who want to run will run. People who don't won't. Googling for a guy and fabricating something that inconsequential is thick.

Still didn't make people want to be class reps, and they didn't have to pull that stunt before!

The whole 'Wang' affair was no big deal really, all the Union needed to do was hold up their hands, say sorry and move on. They didn't and as a result it ended up on page 3 of the Tribune.

true dave curran did a good job in that it was well publicised, but I doubt the number of applicants has anything to do with 'daniel wang' ;)

Talk about a load of inconsequential wánk.
People who take this stuff seriously and worse still, write about it in the paper need to GET A LIFE!

The Chinese guy who was quoted in the paper was hilarious though....'throughly outraged'
