    Hi,
Unfortunately boards.ie Search function is disabled at the moment in case anyone has posted this before.

I've a XP (home) PC connected to my TV at home. Hoping to get a PVR video card but wondering whether there are any Irish EPG(Electronic Programming Guide) available ? Preferably free and does anyone know of any video card/tv tuner solutions out there that auto support them. It would need a PC(D-Sub) or DVI out.

Or has anyone a setup they can recommend ?

    thanks
    Ronan

You generally wont get input and output on the same card. You get your tv-card, and that works by outputting to a program on your pc, through whatever outputs your graphics card has.

I tried to get my PC working as a PVR before, with snapstream BeyondTV, but it was an absoult pain in the hole so I gave up. You have to use an English EPG, with a program called xmltv to parse it into files and cut out all the crap. Then you need a plugin for whatever program you want to use to watch TV on to read those xmltv files. You need to schedule xmltv to update its files every few days aswell. All in all, its a ball of ****e to set up.

Microsoft were meant to launch an Irish EPG aaages ago but never seemed to happen...
