I remember some Tv series from my childhood with a lot of statues involved in it. The statues came to life at night and their were general supernatural going on ons. I think it was on ITV but not sure. I think it was around the same years as "My Name is Nobody"

You're not talking about Gargoyles, are you?

Jesus I'd call that a new cartoon wasn't that in the 90s?

It was a magic drama with real people in it.

In the world of cartoons it appears to have only been around since the 90s

    and later again

I only noted it because of all the Star Trek voices which does not make me a geek ;)

It didn't also feature a magic box and have a concrete elephant in it for some reason, did it? No help on the name if so but if it's the same, RTE showed it two years running over Christmas at 6pm on RTE2.

What was "My Name is Nobody" - that thing about the ghost?

Doesn't ring a bell with me but sounds creepy. Was the programme anything like Sapphire and Steel which was on ITV in the late 70s/early 80s.

I would say if you posted a message on one of the UK TV newsgroups you might get an answer. Most posters on boards are probably too young to remember the programme you're describing.

Now you sound like somebody who is talking about the same show.

You are right about "My Name is Nobody" was about a ghost child chimney sweep. I think they were trying to teach and scare at the same time.

Saphire and Steel still disturbs me. The end of the series really scared me. Being stuck in a room in a void of bad special effects :D

Did the show in question also have some seriously creepy music that affected you way into your adult years?

If so, I think you're talking about 'Children of the Stones' which was a HTV production back in 1977.

TVCream used to have a scary clip, but it's gone now, maybe because the series has been released on DVD.

You can still listen to the theme music here...if you dare! Muah-haw-haw!

...hard to believe that 'music' was used for a kiddies show, still it was the 70's after all and most of our teachers used to smoke in class and were allowed by law to physically beat us. Happy days.

Not sure if I remember a programme with statues that come to life. I do remember a programme where kids had some manner of wishing ring and while putting a pretend show wished that the audience made out of old coats, hats and gloves were real and then they did come to life and started applauding - I thought that was freaky.

The show with the magic box was probably Box of Delights

I found it really creepy as a kid - especially a bit where the boy was on a train and as it went through a tunnel he saw that the other people in the carriage were actually wolves.

We have a winner! I remember that episode with the audience too. It was scarey. They lost control of the audience.
There were a few scarey prgrams around when I was younger now they are friendly scarey. My emostional scares have made me the sado masicist I am today!
