okie Im chaning the pickups in my RG1570L from the stocks to Dimarzio Paf pro and Fred.... Single is staying the same.

SO i open up the back of the Guitar for the wiring of the pickups and heres a wiring diagram of what i see

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v298/-=Slash=-/wiring1.jpg

^^ the pic above is Just the pickup wiring and no other wiring is shown

theres other wires connected form the tone pot and other places to the volume pot too, But they dont directly seem to be connected to the pickup wiring in any way So i figured all the other wires are ok to leave alone!?

...and that i Just need to connect the wires from the new pickups to the exact same places as the old pickup wiring.....

    SO is that right?

(+ in the diagram i have the wiring for the dimarzio pickups. - theres 5 wires on the dimarzio ones...

    - Red - Black - White - Green - Bare

So the red stays the same...

Black and white are soldered together which will replace the White wire from the old pickups

Green and bare are soldered together to be grounded...

old pickups just have - Red, White and Bare wiring)

So i hope u managed to follow that! any helps appreciated

Unless you're wiring the dimarzios to split you should just solder the pickups black and white wires together which will leave you with red, green and bare, red is the same, green replaces white and bare is the same.

Wouldn't mind a second opinion on that though.

    Have a read of this

i just wana install them the same was as the old ones! the normal H S H way,

i was reading the instuctions that came witht he pickup and then i made the diagram above (the paf pro and fred wiring bit)

    so red = red

    Black and white = white

and in the iinstructions it says bare and green are soldered to the ground = Bare

OK, your guitar has coil tapping which complicates matters slightly...
    RG1570.GIF

...The switch is activating both coils and then tapping one, depending on position.

The red wire is the hot signal to one coil, the white wire is the hot signal to the other one, I'm not sure if the black + white should just be attached to the same post on the switch...

**** it, try it that way and see if it's right by touching a metal object off the pole pieces while activating the switch.

And if you put your two diagrams together it should be the same as the Ibanez one ;)

    Did you try this?
So the red stays the same...

Black and white are soldered together which will replace the White wire from the old pickups

Green and bare are soldered together to be grounded...

This is actually right Al, been installing an Air Norton 7 and Tone Zone 7 this evening and went through it myself. The two coils are connected under the pickup ribbon on the three conductor pickup.

It all makes sense now :D

    Hi,
Well, since that graphic is from my website, may I offer some advice?
I'd advise you to at least wire in a series parallel switch, otherwise you are wasting those 4 wires that come out of that pickup. As I mentioned on my website, I got rid of the factory pickups from my Gibson SG a LONG time ago when I learned how limited just one humbucking sound can be.
If you ever play anything "clean" do you notice how crappy the straight humbucker sound is?
    Something to think about.

Welcome to Boards, wolf - that's a great wiring resource you got there! :)

That is exactly my point. The humbucker clean sound is usually crappy when wired in the traditional way. Wire in an option for series/parallel (or even "cut" one coil) and you've got a sharper, clearer sound - like that of a single coil guitar - yet you can easily switch back to the full, overdriven humbucker sound.
As I said in my website, I got rid of the factory humbuckers from my Gibson SG because I couldn't get the 4 conductor wiring that your replacement pickup comes with.

Thanks for the welcome Ancient1 and thanks for the praise about my website.
