Porterhouse Home Brewed Beers

I went for a few socialable pints with a few friends last week, The Porter House being the venue of choice.

So anyway, I ended up trying their "Hemp Beer" and oh my god, it was the foulest tasting thing I have ever, eh.. tasted! It tastes like ground up tree leaves mixed with Dutch Gold. Not a great combination.

Then onto another beer, which I think was called "Weiss Beir" or something like that, which tasted like meat. Ugh!! Who tastes these things and goes "Mmmmm perfect, now to sell it on to those lucky punters."

    Anyone ever tried these?

Had the Hemp beer - thought it was lovely.
Their Weiss beer doesn't old its head well enough - so its by no means up to the standards mentioned on the other thread.
Their porters are all excellent though - especially the Oyster Stout - a great beer.

I did have some stout in there that I can't quite remember the name of. I'd probably know it if it was mentioned.

I've had a couple of the stouts. Is there a plain porter? I think that's the one I had. I've also had the oyster stout, which is very tasty.

The red and TSB were quite nice too. Brain blasta was reccommended to me, but was off the last day I was there.

A pint of plain is nice but I'm no big fan of the oyster beer.

Porter House Red Ale is absolutely delicious - one of the tastiest beverages I've ever drank

Surely it deserves a better description than 'Home brew' anyway. Micro brewed beers, maybe.

There was also a Vienna lager on special which I just tasted and wouldn't have minded having more. Is there any specials on at the moment?

I have to agree with this, absolutely beautiful.

I quite liked the hemp beer. reminded me of the aroma whilst walking around holland.
The hemp beer is quite hoppy, so if you don't like that then you're not gonna be happy with the hemp beer.
the Porterhouse Red is my draught beverage of choice there though.
Plain and Oyster stouts are delicious.
And it's not Home Brew - that's what I do. The PorterHouse is a microbrewery, quite different.
I think it's the best pub in the world.

They haven't had it the last few times I've been there...I reckon they're phasing it out ;)

Porterhouse Red is my favourite. Seems a popular choice.
